How AI Assists Color Profile Reconstruction
Traditional look-up table inversion relies entirely on hard mathematical logic. While math works for preserving mid-tones, it fails to handle highlight rolls and shadow compression, often causing digital banding or pixelated color clipping. AI Reverse LUT technology solves this issue by examining local pixel grids. Neural networks are trained on pairs of compressed Rec.709 files and their raw camera log counterparts. The AI learns how colors shift and compress, predicting gradient roll-offs and smoothing color steps during decompression, recreating a flatter, grading-ready intermediate.
